Help for Ukrainian Families

We have welcomed several Ukrainian families to the Food Bank as they resettle in Red Deer, having left their homeland and the strife they witnessed there.

A group of concerned citizens has set up a program to assist these displaced families, and we want to let you know about the need in the community, and how you can help.

Fundraising for Ukrainian Displaced Families in Central Alberta

The Ukrainian Displaced Persons Planning Committee (UDPPC) was established in March 2022 to aid displaced persons and families fleeing the war in Ukraine. A fund has been established to assist Ukrainian displaced families to come to and settle in Central Alberta. The committee is comprised of volunteers from local churches, organizations, businesses, and social agencies, who have come together to assist Ukrainian displaced families arriving to Central Alberta, but we need your help to provide for their basic needs.

The Ukrainian displaced families arriving to Central Alberta are in desperate need. The majority are women and children who fled Ukraine with only a suitcase, leaving behind their husbands, fathers, and brothers. Our committee is assisting with airfare for displaced persons to Alberta; providing financial assistance to purchase essentials upon arrival; and organizing donations for clothing, toiletries, toys, bedding, and household items to assist families settle in Central Alberta.

As the war continues in Ukraine and the numbers fleeing for safety continue to grow, the committee is reaching out to individuals and businesses in Central Alberta to donate toward the Ukrainian Displaced Persons Fund to support their efforts to provide aid for displaced Ukrainian families that are arriving in Central Alberta.

Donations are administered for the UDPPC through St. Vladimir Ukrainian Catholic Church in Red Deer. Tax receipts will be issued upon request.
