The Red Deer Food Bank is seeking an in-house, full-time, full-cycle Accounting Technician to support the general operations of the Society.

Interested?

The successful candidate will be able to:

  • Keep financial records

  • Establish, maintain, and balance various accounts using manual and Sage Accounting Systems

  • Post journal entries and reconcile accounts, prepare trial balance of books, maintain general ledgers and prepare financial statements

  • Calculate and prepare cheques and EFT’s for payrolls, and accounts payable.

  • Complete and submit tax remittance forms, workers’ compensation forms, pension contribution forms and other government documents

  • Prepare financial reports for grants and perform other record-keeping duties

  • Prepare other statistical, financial, and accounting reports.

  • Steward restricted and unrestricted resources for their best use within gaming regulations, grant parameters, and the expressed wishes of donors, foundations, governments, and other funding bodies

The Red Deer Food Bank is developing a social enterprise model through the delivery of mobile food service offerings. The successful accounting technician will also supervise the deployment of point of sales systems and assist shift supervisors to invoice catering events, reconcile sales processes, and report activity for multiple mobile units.

Qualifications:

  • A clear understanding and demonstrated ability to bookkeep in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles for Non-profit entities.

  • Proficient use of Sage, the Microsoft Suite and Google Enterprise Software.

  • Personable and positive communication skills.

  • A commitment to and understanding of Red Deer Food Bank objectives.

  • A flexible and productive team player with ability to multi-task and pay attention to details.

Working Conditions:

This employment position is located in Red Deer, Alberta, in the Red Deer Food Bank offices. Work is primarily done on-site but may require employee travel in support of events and activities.
