Welcome to our NEW BRAND!
This project has been months in the making, and we have finally arrived.
The Red Deer Food Bank Society has made so many changes over the past year that the time was ideal for a fresh new outlook. With our renovations to the warehouse and distribution area, changes in management and personnel, the coming commercial kitchen and food trucks, it all indicated that a new identity was needed to demonstrate the expanded services we offer.
We have been working with the Board, staff, and volunteers for six months on this rebrand for the organization. It’s been a challenge to get this project completed, and now, we are nearing completion. This website is the official “landmark” as we continue to update our marketing materials, signs, food trucks and more. We are so thankful to have such a committed, supportive team in our corner for all of this.
Before we get into the nitty gritty…
The first thing we want to mention that confuses a lot of people: A brand is NOT a logo.
Yes, our logo got a refresh as part of this project, and we got many visual standards to guide us. The brand building however began with the Board of Directors who revisited the organization’s Vision, Mission, and Core Values of the Food Bank, while determining objectives they wished to see achieve. This was the first step in our process. To help clarify what we’ve achieved, see below.
Our Purpose
We are the first line of support when people are facing food insecurity.
Our Rallying Cry
In the face of many unsolvable global issues, it’s easy to feel apathetic and unsure how to make a positive impact. But the truth is, the best way to make change is to start here and now. In our community, there is an abundance of food, yet people still go hungry. This is a problem we can address. We have the supply, the knowledge, and the connections to feed those in crisis. All we need is people to step up and join in. Let’s work together so no one goes hungry.

Main Logos
The horizontal version of our logo uses the name that our organization is most commonly called.
The stacked version is provided for instances that need the organization’s full name.
Illustration
We use a flat, graphic style of food illustration to use as decorative elements. We also depict the food as meals in addition to ingredients to illustrate the potential of what donations to the food bank can become.
The Helpers
The food illustrations also become our mascots, the Helpers. They are a playful and engaging element of our brand that we use in community outreach to connect with volunteers and donors that contribute to our overall objectives.
So here we are! You’ve started to see the changes over the past few weeks trickling out in social media, and now it is official. Expect to see more changes over the remainder of the summer and throughout the year.
