That’s what we hope to find in THREE new members of our Board of Directors.
You have been following the latest trends. You see the impact of our current environment on your community.
You really want to do something about it.
We are seeking new members for our Board of Directors!
Central Alberta’s hub for food bank distribution and service is currently seeking applicants to join our Board of Directors.
The Red Deer Food Bank has a mission to support access to nutritious food and healthy living. We seek to work together with community partners, businesses, and citizens so that no one goes hungry. We value collaboration, equity, food security and innovation to achieve the vision of our community feeding everyone.
To that end, we are growing a social enterprise of food service through mobile food services to develop revenue to offset declining monetary donations. We also developed the Rotary Club of Red Deer East Community Kitchen, where we will soon begin programming for members of the community.
We serve as Food Banks Alberta’s central hub to distribute food to 18 rural food banks across a 20,000 sq. km. area. In 2022, the Red Deer Food Bank provided emergency hampers to approximately 25,000 people in our community. Sadly, 47% of those were children, a noticeable increase from 39% in 2021. It’s also estimated that an additional 40,000 people were served in our Community Pantry.
