We are seeking new members for our team!
We have need for several people in our Culinary Services department, Warehouse and Client Services, and Business Development and Marketing.
Some positions may have restrictions due to the Canada Summer Jobs Grant. However, we encourage all applications as some positions may not be included in this grant and we will need to hire additional help that is out-of-scope.
Junior Sous Chef:
The Junior Sous Chef is responsible for managing the food service operations within the food trucks. Ensure all employees follow the policies and procedures set by the Culinary Services manager. Ability to drive food trucks is a bonus.
Primary Responsibilities:
Help oversee the day-to-day operations at the food trucks, as well as the commercial kitchen.
Maintain the required records including food production, inventory, and meal counts.
Ensure food truck staff follow proper safety and sanitation procedures.
Preside over food truck employees including cooks, food preppers, and cashiers.
Prepare and serve the food.
Ensure all staff are following the food truck menus set by the Culinary Services manager & sous chef.
Record required cooler temperatures, food waste, and food temperatures.
Maintain kitchen cleanliness, and proper rotation of product.
Supervise and train food truck employees.
Effectively follow opening and closing food truck procedures
Maintain all kitchen equipment
What you bring:
6 months experience in a leadership role in a fast-paced kitchen environment
Class 5 drivers license with a clean driver abstract.
Food Safe Certification is an asset.
Ability to work evenings and weekends based on our business needs.
Food Truck Employees:
The Food Truck support staff will be working along side our food truck captain, to deliver and staff food trucks to any events in the Red Deer area and promote our brand!
Must be comfortable driving a food truck, towing BBQ trailers, as well as working customer service window. A Class 3-5 license is required.
duties include:
Delivering food trucks to any/all events
Impeccable customer service
Cooking on the line
Working cash station
Set up - tear down duties.
Operating kitchen equipment
Record required cooler temperatures, food waste, and food temperatures.

Retail or previous restaurant experience

Client Services team members:
The Client Services Team are responsible for the intake, pantry, and hamper distribution areas. Working well with the Warehouse staff and volunteers, being willing to do what needs to be done as part of a team, is what makes the Food Bank successful in its mission.
duties include:
Maintaining cleanliness and sanitization of hamper and distribution areas
Safe food handling and adherence to safe work practices in pantry and hamper distribution areas
Sorting, stocking and distribution of food supply and other products
Positive and impactful customer-facing activity
Maintain brand image of friendly support for clients and volunteers
What you bring:
A passion for customer service and hospitality
Tact, dependability, and discretion
Ability to respond to the variety of characters that access our storefront services
Retail or previous service experience
Team based mentality
Class 5 driver’s license
food truck team captains:

Business Development Intern:
The Business Development Intern will be working with both the culinary team and Brand Ambassador to build a presence and demand for our food services in the community.
This is a unique opportunity for someone familiar with the tourism, business and events scene in Red Deer & Central Alberta as you create connections for the future.
duties include:
Research & reach out to local area events & businesses to book food services (trucks, catering)
Create regular routes, locations for food trucks
Support financial management of culinary team
Attend Chamber functions, build RDFB network
Bid on fundraising events for food service
Support marketing of culinary services
Create/maintain a calendar of events
What you bring:
A passion for connecting with local businesses
A sense for adventure
Familiarity with Red Deer events & attractions
Experience in tourism, hospitality, marketing
Team based mentality
Class 5 driver’s license
Warehouse Team Members:
The Warehouse Team supports operations in shipping, receiving, sorting, and food storage areas. Team members support the intake of food products, oversee and assist with hamper building, and keep product stocked in the Client Services area.
duties include:
Convey food stock between receiving, production, storage and distribution areas
Safe food handling and adherence to safe work practices in coolers and warehouse environments
Maintain cleanliness and sanitization of warehouse areas
Support volunteers in sorting and hamper building
Supplements the truck driver with pick-ups and deliveries as requested
What you bring:
A passion for customer service and hospitality
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Willingness to work with volunteers of various abilities and skill sets
Team based mentality
Class 5 driver’s license
Forklift certification is an asset but not required
