Love free food?
Join us at Rotary Recreation Park* on Friday, October 14, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and help us reduce food waste in Red Deer!
Working together with Alberta Health Services, the City of Red Deer, and local grocery stores and producers, we're serving up a meal made from food that would have otherwise gone to the landfill, but is still good to eat. Come have a bite, and learn how you can be part of the solution to reducing food waste.
Drop in. Free. Everyone welcome!
Support for this event comes from Rethink Red Deer's Climate Leadership Lab, and the Community Environmental Action Grant.
*This event is in the section of Rotary Recreation Park north of the Golden Circle and east of the Bluegrass Sod Farms Spray & Play. Look for market tents and signage on the day.
Chef Shane and Chef Michael have prepared a menu of foods to come and try for free:
menu
Bison Meatballs with BBQ Sauce
Potatoes O’Brien with Scrambled Eggs
Apple Brown Betty
Rice Pudding
Smoked Shredded Chicken Curry with Rice
Feed 500 began in London, England as “Feed 5000”, a global movement that sheds light on the issue of food waste. All the food is made entirely from high-quality food that would otherwise be lost.
Learn about preventing food waste, how to make the most from what you have, and… oh yeah… pick up recipes for two of our dishes!
